uST media centre reports that the government of the Arkhangelsk region is interested in using transport and infrastructure solutions offered by Unitsky String Technologies Inc. One of the possible projects – construction of a string-rail flyover connecting the central part of Arkhangelsk with the island territories.
Local authorities have shown interest in UST Inc. product that could solve the problem of transport accessibility in remote areas of the region. The company offers solutions in the form of uST complexes that allow unmanned rail electric vehicles to travel on a special flyover high above the ground or water. The length of spans between the supports of the track structure can reach three kilometres, which makes the track an effective solution for crossing the water barriers separating neighbouring islands.
«We now have two test sites where our transport is being tested, track infrastructure is being tested. We're moving towards certification. In order for us to be certified according to European norms and standards of the Russian Federation, the complexes need to work for a certain amount of time» – noted Nadezhda Kosareva, General Director of UST Inc., during the meeting.
The head of the company invited the governor to visit the test and demonstration centre and see for himself the efficiency of uST technology, and also told about the possibilities of transport in terms of passenger traffic.
The head of the region instructed the relevant departments to study the territories where the project proposed by UST Inc. could be implemented. The cost of its implementation will depend on the customer's requests and the volume of passenger traffic.
«We considered different options because we have a problem in that the island territories are not connected by bridges with the central part of Arkhangelsk. There are a lot of islands, and a fair number of people live there. While in summer this problem is alleviated by the availability of water transport, there are always difficulties with passenger transport in winter and inter-season. Therefore, the implementation of such a project could be a good social solution to the transport problem» – said Alexander Tsybulsky.
According to the press service of the Governor and the Government of Pomorye, in addition to the creation of the flyover, the head of the region instructed the government of the Arkhangelsk region to analyse the prospects of another project. It is aimed at the development of port infrastructure and envisages the creation of cargo complexes for the transport of break-bulk and containerised cargo using the uST string-rail flyover.
