Design is a key process in the development of transport, it requires consistency and error-free actions. The entire subsequent operation of the Unimobile depends on how correctly certain technical solutions are laid down at this stage. How did the creation of Unilite begin, and what did the company's engineers focus on when designing the rail electric vehicle?
The Head of the Design Bureau "Komponovka" ("Layout") Ivan Romanenko says that first of all it is necessary to determine what requirements the transport should meet: "If we consider modern car manufacturers, the approach to design will be different for each of them, but all of them have one goal - search for a compromise between the characteristics. In our case, the task was to build a lightweight and simply designed Unimobile with minimal costs, but while maintaining other parameters at the proper level."
According to UST Inc. engineers, designing a Unimobile is a multifaceted stage that requires synchronized interaction of specialists of absolutely different profiles and includes several directions at once: elaboration of the hierarchical structure of the electric rail vehicle, selection of component base, thinking over the control architecture, design, formation of technical appearance, as well as assessment of possible risks in the interaction of transport with the track structure. And that's not all directions.
"We were looking for the best design solutions in terms of the "price/quality" ratio. At the same time we proceeded from the principle of functional universality: the Unilite should be easily adaptable to the needs of the customer," the General Designer of the Unilite Sergey Klyaus said.
To ensure the requirements stated for the final product, the company's specialists have provided a set of solutions. For example, the traction module of the Unilite uses motor-wheels of combined design. Steel is used in the bearing part and composite wear-resistant polymer in used the flanges. This made it possible to reduce the weight of the Unilite, increase the traction and reduce costs when operating transport.
In addition, the traction module equipment was designed taking into account that most Unimobile maintenance operations are to be carried out without excessive labor input. Therefore, cowls are provided as part of the casing to allow for carrying out all necessary operations.
As you can see, the solutions laid in the design of the Unilite made it one of the most affordable options for organizing efficient, safe and comfortable transportation.
