A spokesperson for the company, which is developing the string transport in the UAE, was interviewed on Dubai Eye 103.8 radio. We share the main answers.
— We are developing a new type of transport based on prestressed cables. It looks like rails that have been placed not on the ground but above it.
— A total of 17 models of the string transport have been designed. They can run being suspended of the rail or mounted on top of the rail, depending on the specifics of the project. These vehicles have a capacity of between 2 and 48 people.
— The rolling stock is controlled by autopilot. This helps reduce human error and the number of accidents.
— Тhe string transport runs on electricity, so it is environmentally friendly and complies with current international requirements.
— String tracks are cheaper than other transport solutions. This is made possible by using less material than, for example, in the construction of the underground.
— We have fully completed the construction of the 400-metre test line in Sharjah. It is a complete transport complex with a passenger station, depot, control centre and vehicles.
— The construction of the 2.4-km long track is now underway in Sharjah. On it, there will be carried out testing of the freight transportation carrier and the heavy passenger transport.
— The Testing Centre is being built in Sharjah for several reasons. Firstly, here, the transport operation in hot climates can be tested. This is necessary before the project can be developed in the regions with similar weather conditions: in Asia and Africa. Secondly, the UAE is one of the world's hubs where people come to see and try new technologies.
– We hope that the first commercial project will be implemented in Sharjah.
