The edition The National published an article on the testing of the string freight models in Sharjah and the construction of targeted projects. We have chosen the most important from this material.

When the Unicont will be launched

The container carrier testing in Sharjah is scheduled to begin in December 2022 or January 2023. The 2.4-kilometre track will allow the vehicle to reach speeds of up to 120 km/h.

Where the tracks may be built

One of the possible projects is a double-track freight route from the port on Tincan Island in Nigeria to the city of Lagos. The 20-kilometre track will cost about $280 million.

Another route can connect Jebel Ali port in the UAE with Al Maktoum International Airport. The 18.5-km line will allow containers to be delivered in 15 minutes.
