In the scientific publication "Innovative Transport", there has been published the article about electronic passports for the rail-string transport complex. We share the main points of this publication.
What is an electronic passport?
This is a document that combines technical and operational information about a product throughout its life cycle. Simply put, it is a database. Each component of the transport complex must have such a passport.
Advantages of the electronic passport
Compared to its paper analogue, the e-passport has virtually no volume limitations. That allows to store more information about the technical means and record not only the factory state of the object, but also the current one. And thanks to the virtual form, access to this data will become even faster.
Security
An electronic passport reduces the risk of a criminal threat. The system will exclude false documents, duplicates, passports for equipment that does not meet safety requirements and regulations. Any transaction with the e-passport will take place after full verification of access rights and authorisations.
In addition, electronic passports will allow the intelligent system to make organisational and management decisions more effectively, as well as to plan various types of maintenance and repairs.
