The specialists of the string transport company developer have begun creating a methodology to help assess the strength of adhesive joints in the transport and infrastructure complex. Specific research and development work is being carried out for this purpose:
1. First, the adhesive is placed in a vacuum chamber to pump out all the air. This makes the composition more dense and gives strength to the future connection.
2. The two metal specimens are then smeared with glue, joined together, checked for geometric compliance, and left to build up strength for at least two weeks.
3. After that, the strength of the adhesive joint is tested in a tensile machine.
4. There is created a computer model from the data obtained. It makes it possible to understand electronically whether this or that joint is able to work in the units of the transport complex.
According to Alexander Shibut, Head of the laboratory, such studies have hardly any analogues in the world. The results of the work done will help save the company's resources and significantly accelerate production processes.

«Depending on the design of the element, the adhesive joint has different thickness. With the change in thickness, the strength and deformation properties of the adhesive joint change. And to calculate the strength properties of the glued elements, it is necessary to have a clear idea of the strength of the glue itself. That is why we started the research cycle».
