«A 2.5-km-long suspended track that will be used to test a driverless cargo pod will be completed in six months» – such news recently appeared in the prestigious online edition of Gulf News. That was stated to the media by the representatives of the Belorussian engineering company SkyWay GreenTech, who are in charge of the project development in the Innovation Centre in Sharjah. «It is here that the string transport system will be tested and certified before it is implemented on a global scale», was reported to the media.

We remind you that earlier in Sharjah, a test drive of the «tropical» unicar on the 400-metre-long track was successfully demonstrated. Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SRTI Park, noted that the SkyWay Project is part of the «comprehensive plan aimed at transforming the city of Sharjah into a sustainable futuristic city».

The suspended transport system is in its experimental phase but the construction at site to build the hanging test tracks at the SRTI Park located inside the campus of the American University in Sharjah (AUS) is underway according to the plan.

«We have just completed phase one and initiated the second phase to issue tenders for testing of the new pathbreaking technology of travelling, both cargo and passenger service,» said Raman Marwaha, senior vice-president, project division, SkyWay GreenTech, to the Khaleej Times.
