Assembly of the self-propelled stand undercarriage, a bi-rail electric wheeled vehicle, has been completed at the "SV Plant" production complex. Engineers will use it to practice design solutions and test uST transport control systems. The model is already being fully tested on a semi-rigid string-rail flyover in EcoTechnoPark.
Earlier, we tested all the elements of the rolling stock directly in the Unimobiles. This is quite inconvenient, because we were not always able to make demonstration runs or had to interrupt the tests when conducting tours. In addition, testing any new solution required dismantling parts of the vehicle. To avoid this, we developed a self-propelled stand undercarriage. Head of the Design Bureau "Layout" Ivan Romanenko said that special modular design of the undercarriage allows for research and development works.
The stand consists of a traction module and a weight and load dummy connected to each other. The model can travel at 80 km/h. Load capacity of the stand is 1000 kg. The design of the rail electric vehicle provides free access to the components and assemblies, which ensures the convenience of its maintenance.
UST Inc. engineers paid special attention to automation. Sensors located in the model transmit measurement information to the control system. It, in turn, provides real-time monitoring and analysis of the received data. This helps to determine the performance of the stand and prevent any malfunctions. At the same time, the operator can gain control over the electric rail vehicle at any time.
The stand is equipped with a system for recording of motion data. It makes it possible to keep a record of all the events that occurred during the travel. The control algorithms are designed in such a way that no single failure will lead to the loss of the electric rail vehicle's ability to move independently.
Today, UST Inc. specialists are adjusting the new control algorithms. Full operation of the test stand will begin after successful commissioning. The first tests will concern the automatic undercarriage thruster system designed for maintaining straight-line movement or entering a turn. All solutions that successfully pass the approbation will be incorporated into new projects of uST transport.
