Indonesia interested in string transport

Unitsky String Technologies Inc. continues to work under the agreement with ITS Indonesia. The agreement with the organisation relates to the application of the uST technology across the country. And one of the key areas of cooperation is seen by the authorities as the possibility of using uST complexes as a transport solution to connect islands.

A fundamentally new level of transport accessibility

The islands of Sumatra and Java are one of the regions where there are being considered the uST transport and infrastructure solutions. A large number of ferries cross the strait separating these islands every day. Recently, however, maritime transport has become increasingly difficult to cope with the flow of buses, cars and lorries.

The rail-string flyover, which is located high above the ground or water, does not require earth embankments, excavations, bridges, overpasses, multi-level interchanges or culverts. Such a route could serve as both an alternative means of transporting people or goods between Sumatra and Java, and as a link between transport hubs and major cities on the two islands.

Traffic jams will become yesterday's problem

Java is among the most densely populated islands in the world. It is home to 145 million people. Аbout 58 million people live on Sumatra. The uST transport complexes can handle up to 50,000 passengers per hour. Not only congestion but also traffic accidents are excluded. There is a redistribution of passenger traffic. As a consequence, congestion on the main highways used for land transport is reduced. The uST route will make the journey from Sumatra to Java fast, affordable and comfortable.

Unprecedented reliability

Safety of the uST technology is another advantage, which is very relevant to Indonesia with its high seismic activity. Thanks to its special design, the string-rail flyover is resistant to earthquakes, tsunamis and floods. In addition, even if one or more intermediate supports are damaged or destroyed, the track structure remains intact due to the prestressed strings in the structure.

Representatives of UST Inc. and ITS Indonesia are now working together on several directions of transport infrastructure development in the region. According to William Sabandar, President of ITS Indonesia, the collaboration with Unitsky String Technologies Inc. will expand Indonesia's ability to utilize intelligent transportation technologies.

We remind you that in addition to transport programmes, UST Inc. is also working with the Indonesian government on the project called «Vision of Indonesia 2045» which is aimed at improving the economy.
