The authorities of Sonsonate in El Salvador are interested in using the uST transport and infrastructure solutions as part of the Presidential Pacific Railway programme. Consequently, the city municipality has invited experts from UST Inc. for carrying out preliminary work on the joint project.
Presidential Commissioner for Strategic Projects Cristian Flores had earlier announced the government's plans to use the technology. The city representatives are interested in the efficiency of the uST complexes and their easy integration into the already developed environment with a large number of sights. In addition, passenger terminals are combined with anchor supports, and stations can be used for commercial real estate. This approach has a positive effect on the entire economy of the city and reduces the payback period of the complexes.
At this stage, the Sonsonate government and the representatives of Unitsky String Technologies Inc. are discussing a number of projects to develop the city's transport infrastructure. There has already been set up a working group to elaborate potential routes, and the agreements on cooperation are also being prepared.
Project information note:
Unitsky String Technologies Inc. is contributing to improve the region's transport accessibility. The company offers solutions in the form of the environmentally friendly uST transport and infrastructure complexes.
In El Salvador, there is interest in the UST Inc. product, which is commercially available and highly efficient. The construction of the string-rail flyover is less expensive than many transport alternatives. For example, the uST technology requires minimal construction land allocation and low volume of excavation work, and the location of the track on the «second level» saves space. On top of that, the transport and infrastructure complexes from UST Inc. are long-lasting. The lifespan of the string-rail flyover is 50 years before overhaul, the rolling stock — 25 years.
