There are five types of track structures in operation at the Belarusian String Technology Testing Centre. We are sharing the advantages of each of them.

Flexible (sagging)

The main features of the flexible track structure is its simple construction and light weight. That makes it possible to build tracks in territories with difficult terrain and in remote areas.

The flexible track structure consists of a few elements but retains a high level of functionality. Such a track would be one of the most affordable solutions for transport service.

Super-light (coil-tubing)

The basis of the super-light track structure is coiled tubing with high-strength steel wire inside. Thanks to the seamless joint, the rails are easy to install and the simple construction ensures low construction costs.

In the long term, the super-light track structure could be an alternative solution for cable cars. Compared to these, coiled tubing tracks are easier to make and cheaper to maintain.

Semi-rigid

The distinguishing feature of the semi-rigid track structure is its versatility and good load capacity. A variety of models are tested on this track: Unicont, Unibus, Unitruck and Unibike.

In 2018, the project engineers upgraded the semi-rigid track structure to enable it to transport heavier transport means. The maximum load has increased from 4 to 6 tons per vehicle.

Rigid (truss)

This track structure is designed for urban and high-speed transport. The track allows to reach speeds of up to 500 km/h.

The vehicles can move along the rigid track structure simultaneously below and above. This saves on the construction of an additional track.

Freight

In the freight track structure, the project engineers emphasised the strength of the structure. In this way, a higher volume of traffic can be provided.

The track at the Belarusian Testing Centre is looped and connected to Unitrans, a belt-type freight transport. Automatic loading and unloading stations also supplement the track structure.
