The Unitsky String Technologies Inc.'s team has begun preparations for the installation of air suspension in Unibus U4-220. For this, the vehicle was taken off the track structure at the EcoTechnoPark and sent to the production facility in Minsk. A report on the event appeared on the company developer's official website, and we share the summary.
We would like to remind you that Unibus U4-220 is a passenger vehicle of the the string transport designed to run on urban and suburban routes at speeds of up to 150 km/h. The car seats up to 48 passengers.
To remove the Unibus from the track structure, the testers used frameworks, supports, and traverses which are load-carrying devices. A lorry and crane were brought to the rail-string station itself.
First, long straps were attached to Unibus, pulled by several men on different sides. In parallel, the vehicle was being pushed on the first floor of the station. As soon as the model left the station, it was secured to the traverses.
Then, using a crane, Unibus was carefully lowered into the metal frame in which the vehicle will travel to the production.
This is how tester Mars Tuimetov commented on the operation:
«Today, everything went very quickly and smoothly. A couple of years ago, it used to take half a day to remove the vehicle from the track structure, but now we are getting the hang of it and can do it in a couple of hours.»
In the final stage, Unibus was placed on a semi-trailer truck. Next, there was delivery to the production facility in Minsk. At the production, there will be done work to upgrade the traction bogie and to replace the mechanical suspension with a more advanced pneumatic one.
Head of the design office at Unitsky String Technologies, Inc. Ivan Tomanenko shared the further plans.
«It will take about a month to refine the traction module in the vehicle. Next, similar operations will be carried out with the second vehicle».
By the way, UST Inc. has already installed air suspension in some models. This has reduced noise and vibration levels in the cabin by several times, making the vehicle even more comfortable for passengers.
