At the Al Hoty-Stanger testing laboratory in Dubai, there have been successfully tested the glass fibre rail insulators that will be used in future SkyWay tracks.
Testing of insulators is necessary to verify that the technology meets the UAE's requirements for rails. Such requirements include electrical safety, current resistance, conductivity, insulation and many others.
The tests were carried out at Al Hoty-Stanger Laboratory, which has been conducting trials and testing in the UAE for more than 30 years for everything from building materials to food.
The results of the laboratory tests have shown that the glass fibre insulators meet the design requirements of the company-developer, so the selected glass fibre can be used in the design of new string tracks.
