The article about SkyWay was published in the Construction Week magazine, which covers construction innovation and projects in the Middle East. The journalists talked to a representative of the UST, Inc. Centre in Sharjah about prospective customers, track construction and new transport models in the UAE. Read more in our summary.

‒ The SkyWay technology is primarily aimed at countries where population growth is causing a natural demand for transport. These are places like Africa, the Middle East, Asia, India and Pakistan.

‒ The UST, Inc. Centre is located in the UAE for two reasons. Firstly, it allows to be closer to customers in India and Africa. Secondly, it is in the Middle East that the company is planning its first commercial project.

‒ The construction of the UST, Inc. Centre in Sharjah started in 2018. The first challenge we faced was finding the right local consultant. In the end, we chose International Engineering Consultants. And Al Serh Al Kabeer company became the general contractor.

‒We have already built the boarding station for the 400-metre track. The stations with a height of around 14 metres for the 2.4-km track, which can be opened in November 2021, are underway.

‒ While the construction of the 2.4-km track is in progress, our team is in the process of publishing the standards that will apply to the SkyWay transport. We plan to publish these documents in the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology.

‒ Working with Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology can take some time. That is why we also work with companies such as Gloitt, TÜV and Bureau Veritas for the transport certification.

‒ We are exploring ideas to implement blockchain technology in our transport to integrate control, ticketing, traffic, monitoring and security systems.

‒ In the near future, we are going to deliver two more models of transport from Belarus to the UAE: a container transporter and a passenger Unibus. So far, they are in production.

‒ In the long term, the company plans to locate its own production and storage facilities in the UAE. For the time being, there is being conducted training in the Emirates for this purpose.

As a reminder: this is not the first time Construction Week has written about the SkyWay project. The magazine already published an article about the string transport in January 2020. Almost immediately after, on the YouTube channel of Construction Week there was released a video parsing the text.
