One month after signing an inspection agreement with TUV SW Standardization Certifications for certification of the fourth test track, uSky Transport announces the completion of the first stage certification work. Its target was the intermediate supports. These are structures designed to ensure the required position of the uSky track structure in situ, outside the anchor supports, and to transmit vertical and lateral horizontal forces to the ground.
TUV SW Standardization Certifications has carried out a comprehensive assessment of steel structures in accordance with the international standards AWS and BS EN. The results of the study were based on data received from several categories:
- Visual and dimensional inspection of intermediate supports;
- Non-destructive testing, e.g. MT;
- Bolt tightening control.
It is important to emphasise that the certification of the intermediate supports is only the first step towards certification of the entire uSky transport and infrastructure complex, which shall include third-party verification and certification of the entire fourth test track:
- Anchor station 4.1 — freight and passenger stations;
- Anchor station 4.2 — freight and passenger terminal;
- Semi-rigid track structure;
- uBus electric vehicle.
Completion of this work package will allow to obtain a Safety Compliance Certificate, making it easier to obtain official approval from the Sharjah Authorities for pilot operation.
A similar work package was carried out on the first test track in 2021, following which a compliance certificate was issued and the first 400m test track was officially approved by the Sharjah authorities for non-commercial pilot and demonstrational operation.
